Hydraulic Judo Bots [MakerID-4]

Our project; Hydraulic Judo Bots is all about hydraulics. We chose this project so we could learn more about hydraulics and pressure, two things we initially had limited knowledge about. Our inspiration mainly came from another similar hydraulics invention idea, and we decided to start our experience with hydraulics with fun judo bots.

In the design process we used our knowledge of strong shapes to build a stronger base than the base we found in the instructions we used. We also were actively involved in the process of learning how each element was important to the design, like the arm, the base, and understanding the way the hydraulic systems move the bot.

One challenge we faced was that we did not have the right size tubes to fit the syringes that we were using for the hydraulics system, so we decided to buy new syringes with tubes that fit. Through our judo bots, we have learned a lot about hydraulics and pressure. If we were to have more time, we would have made a few different styles of judo bots, rather than doing the same design for both.

For others looking to do a similar project, we would suggest really working with your hydraulic systems to make sure you understand why your hydraulic judo bot moves the way it does, and if you understand this, you can make a small change that could lead to your bot winning!
