We (Asher and Mark) are making a token-operated fruit snack dispenser for Ms. Mytko. Instead of having to get out bulky fruit snacks for fruit snack jobs, Ms. Mytko can now just hand out easy to carry Myt-coins. The dispenser was inspired by the common vending machine, although the dispensing mechanism is quite different. We were originally going to have the vending machine rotating-spring layout, but decided against it because it would be hard to get the spring to rotate the exact amount that we wanted it to. We changed it to a flap system. We also found the dimensions of a pack of fruit snacks. In the process, we realized that we had to scale our vending machine down a bit, too. Next, we have to construct the storage unit and attach the token receiver. Our advice to others trying this project out is to make sure that you know what coins/tokens/bills you are going to be using.
