The goal of this project was to make a drone. I was inspired to do this project by seeing the possibilities to customise the drone to how you want it where if you buy a drone it is set with the parts it comes with and you can’t upgrade it.
When I was brainstorming I was thinking about things that I like and challenge me and I remembered about a drone frame that I had printed at the end of the summer last year and I decided to do that.
This is a schematic of how the different parts are put together. |
One giant challenge was the decision to choose between ordering things from Amazon and getting it on time but paying a lot more or ordering from China and getting lower prices but having to wait longer for shipping. In the end I chose to compromise and buy my things mostly from Amazon but a few things from China.
During the project I learned so many things about how a drone works, like all the things you need and how you have to have two of the motors going counter clockwise and two going clockwise. Later I might add to the drone a camera that transmits the footage to headset so you are in First Person View aka FPV. If you are planning to make a drone yourself I would suggest in reading as many websites on building drones as possible when you are making a price list (here is a good one).
